We love our volunteers!

Somerville Backpack Program volunteers are the heart of our operation, tackling everything from making sandwiches and packing bags with food to weekly food shopping and fundraising. On Friday morning, volunteers gather at our host site, Connexion, to prepare and pack bags of nutritious food filled with breakfast, lunch, snack and fresh fruit. Volunteers then deliver the bags of food to staff at each school every Friday during school year.

Community Partners

The Somerville Backpack Program is grateful for our generous partners. Thank you to Food For Free, for donating fresh fruit to our students every week and to Community Cooks for connecting us with community business partners who help us prepare our nutritious sandwiches including 3 Little Figs, Rockland Trust Bank, and Eastern Savings Bank.
